Searching for a security camera can be challenging. Even if you have purchased cameras in the past, you will find that things have changed dramatically. The use of digital technology has brought down the costs of these cameras considerably, but there are some drawbacks.

I’ve done a lot of research on outdoor security camera systems and can help you find the best one.

One big drawback is that although you can easily put your data onto a computer, it is near impossible to blow up any images. Zooming in on these digital shots usually only results in the pixels getting large and distorted.

When setting these cameras up you will have to have a nice clear shot so that you can see everything you need to see in a standard view. This probably means that you will need to get night vision on your camera. After all, why would you want to own a camera that is only useful during certain hours. You could also try to put a light up, but this rarely works as well as one might think.

I have several cameras for both indoor and outdoor and I’ve found that different brands perform better under different situations. I love my Lorex home security cameras inside of my house, but they do not do what I want outside. The only Lorex camera I had success with outside of the house did not come as part of a set. This outdoor wireless security camera works great but does not give me the full 360 view I want.

The system I found to work best was the Logitech Alert system. This system has motion detectors, night vision, and even comes in high definition. I can even get alerts sent from the camera to my blackberry.

One other option I like is that I can view the cameras over the Internet at any time. It comes in handy when I’m expecting a package to be left at my front door.

Storage is great too since it saves everything to your computer, but also can store data on the camera. This is great for when my computer decides to do its automatic restarts. The data is then uploaded automatically to the computer once it is turned on again.

The system loaded onto my computer in a few minutes and was very user friendly. Setting the actual camera up was even easier. I simply drilled 4 quick holes and mounted it up.

Powering up this camera is quite easy as well. It can be plugged into any outlet of your home.

Overall I’m quite happy with this camera and would absolutely purchase it again. If your looking at outdoor security camera systems, it can’t hurt to give the Logitech Alert system a try.
